Public Counsel's Cancer Justice program (founded 1997 as the Cancer Legal Resource Center, and housed for more than two decades at the Disability Rights Legal Center) provides free legal education and help for people with cancer: employment rights, health insurance access and denials, medical bills and financial assistance, and housing issues. Its attorney-staffed helpline runs Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific time, at (866) 843-2572 or (213) 736-1455, and offers legal education, issue-spotting, and referrals.
