Before the call
- Have the diagnosis, treatment name, prescribing doctor, and insurance card ready.
- Write the date, time, phone number, and name of the person you speak with.
- Ask for reference numbers for every call.
Questions
- Is this covered, pending authorization, denied, or missing information?
- What is my estimated out-of-pocket cost?
- Are copay assistance, charity care, payment plans, or manufacturer assistance available?
A cost call is easier to fix later when you capture names, dates, reference numbers, and next steps.
