Working with us

Team benefits & tools

National Cancer Information Foundation equips everyone who works with us — full-time staff, part-time contributors, and volunteers alike — with the same set of accounts and tools, so nobody has to use a personal subscription to do the work.

These are provided from the day you join a role that needs them, for as long as you’re contributing — whether that’s a few hours a week or full-time.

What’s included

Google Workspace account

A cancerexplained.org email address with 30GB of storage, plus Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive for day-to-day work and collaboration.

Microsoft 365 + OneDrive

A Microsoft 365 account with 1TB of OneDrive storage, for anyone who works better in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Canva (free)

Full access to Canva for design work — social assets, printables, and presentation materials — no personal subscription needed.

Claude & ChatGPT access

Access to Claude (Anthropic) and ChatGPT (OpenAI) for drafting, editing, research, and engineering work. Use is disclosed wherever it applies, per our editorial process.

Working Advantage discount program

Free enrollment in Working Advantage — everyday discounts on electronics, appliances, theme parks, hotels, flights, cruises, movie tickets, rental cars, gift cards, apparel, cars, flowers, fitness memberships, groceries, and special events. Use company code NCIF to enroll.

Which of these you get depends on your role — an editorial volunteer might only need Google Workspace and Canva, while an engineer will also get access to our development tools. We’ll tell you exactly what’s included before you start.

Full-time, part-time, or volunteer

Most people who work with National Cancer Information Foundation today are volunteers contributing a few hours a week around other commitments; we bring on paid part-time and full-time help as the organization’s funding allows. The tools above are the same regardless of which applies to your role — what changes is the time commitment and, where relevant, pay.
