Privacy for Ask Cancer Explained
This tool is for learning, not for sharing personal health information.
Please note: Please do not enter personal medical details, names, phone numbers, addresses, insurance information, or private health records.
What we store
By default, Ask Cancer Explained does not store your questions or any personal health information. Your question is used only to generate an answer for that moment.
If logging is used
If we enable logging to understand which topics are helpful, we log only anonymous, non-identifying metadata:
- A timestamp.
- A broad topic label (for example, “chemotherapy”).
- A safety category (for example, whether a question was redirected).
- Whether relevant sources were found.
We do not log names, symptoms, medical histories, or any details that could identify you.
Please don’t share personal details
Because this is an educational tool and not a secure medical service, please do not enter personal medical details, names, phone numbers, addresses, insurance information, or private health records. If you need to discuss your own situation, your healthcare team is the right and safest place.
Third-party processing
Answers are generated using a third-party AI provider (OpenAI). Because your question text is sent to that provider to produce an answer, avoiding personal details keeps your information private on their systems as well.
