Privacy for Ask Cancer Explained

What this site keeps

Ask Cancer Explained does not save your question text in a database, and we do not add it to our logs. Your question is sent to our own server so it can look up the matching passages on our pages. It is not sent to an AI company or to any other outside service.

What our logs record

For each question, our server writes a short log line with only:

• A timestamp.
• A broad topic label from a fixed list (for example, “treatments”).
• A safety category (for example, whether a question was redirected).
• Whether relevant sources were found, and the kind of response (a passage lookup or a fixed safety message).

To limit abuse, we also keep a short-lived count of requests tied to a one-way code made from your network address, not the address itself. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may keep its own standard request logs.

Please don’t share personal details

Because this is an educational tool and not a secure medical service, please do not enter personal medical details, names, phone numbers, addresses, insurance information, or private health records. If you need to discuss your own situation, your healthcare team is the right and safest place.

No AI company sees your question

Ask does not use an AI service. The answers come from passages on our own pages, so your question text is not sent to OpenAI or any other AI company, and it is not used to train any AI. The only outside company that handles the request is our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which may keep its own standard request logs (see above). Even so, the safest choice is to leave personal details out of your question.
