What should I wear to radiation therapy?
Wear comfortable, soft clothing to your radiation therapy sessions. Since you may be asked to change into a gown once you arrive, clothing that is easy to change in and out of can also make the visit smoother.
It's best to avoid jewelry, adhesive bandages, or powder in the area being treated. These can interfere with treatment or irritate the skin in the treatment area, which is worth keeping in mind especially if your treatment area is somewhere you'd normally wear jewelry or use lotion or powder day to day.
Because most people have external beam radiation once a day, Monday through Friday, over a period of weeks, it can help to settle into a simple, repeatable routine for what you wear and bring to each visit. If you're not sure whether something specific — like a favorite lotion or a particular fabric — is fine to use near your treatment area, ask your radiation therapy team directly, since guidance can vary depending on where on your body you're being treated.
